Viewers React to Melania Trump's Speech

Parts of the speech were similar to one Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention in 2008

After Melania Trump gave her speech at the Republican National Convention listeners noticed some similarities between a speech Michelle Obama gave at the Democratic National Convention back in 2008.

Necn viewers reacted to the speech on the necn Facebook page, some claiming the speech was plagiarized while others believe it was just a coincidence.

Sue Brown from Boston said "this was clearly plagiarism."

"It doesn't matter if she wrote it herself, or used a speech writer, she spoke the words, so it's on her", added Gery Walsh Horan.

Kerry Seymour-Major agreed with Gery and said, "doesn't matter who wrote it. Plagiarism is plagiarism.

However, some say it was just a coincidence, especially because both speeches took place under similar circumstances.

Marsha A. Bishop added, "it's on the same subject why wouldn't it sound similar?"

Viewers also said the phrases were very generic, including Nancy Lane Wood, who said, "I have used the exact same phrases myself...if you look back I am sure you will hear the same thing at some point from Jackie Kennedy as well."

The Trump campaign responded to the plagiarism allegations calling them "absurd" and said the words Melania used were common.
