Volunteers Needed to Remove Flags From Boston Memorial Day Display

The Massachusetts Military Heroes Fund is asking for help dismantling more than 37,000 flags from Boston Common placed as a Memorial Day commemoration to the thousands of fallen soldiers from the state.

The display of 37,251 flags was intended to be removed Monday night, but has been postponed due to predicted rain.

Each flag represents a fallen military service member from Massachusetts, dating back to the Revolutionary War.

Volunteers are asked to meet at the display on the Boston Common, adjacent to the Soldiers and Sailors Monument near Charles and Beacon Street, at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday.
