Vt. Man Facing Charges for Allegedly Sexually Assaulting a 12-Year-Old Girl

A man is facing charges for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Burlington, Vermont.

Police say 19-year-old Mohamed Hussein, of Burlington, picked the girl up and drove her to a shopping center where the alleged assault happened on Friday.

The Burlington Police Department originally responded Friday to 595 Shelburne Road for a report of a 12-year-old girl who had been abducted and sexually assaulted. Investigators, however, determined there was no abduction.

Hussein was arrested and is facing charges of aggravated sexual assault and unlawful restraint.

He's being held at the Chittenden Regional Correctional Center on $2,000 bail.

The incident is under investigation by detectives from the Chittenden Unit for Special Investigations.
