Standoff Resolved in Palmyra, Maine, Walmart Lockdown Lifted

A nearby motel was temporarily evacuated

A Walmart in Palmyra, Maine was temporarily locked down on Friday due to a police standoff.

Maine State Police locked down the store and evacuated a nearby motel while they dealt with a "policy emergency" that involved a man inside a vehicle in the parking lot. Route 2 was also shut down in front of the store for a time.

Around 1:15 p.m., police said the standoff was over and the man had been placed under arrest.

Witnesses reported that dozens of police officers responded to the scene.
