    Cloudy, Mild Sunday

Sunday: Mostly cloudy, mild. Afternoon spot shower. Highs in the 70s. Sunday Night: Cooling off, mostly cloudy. Lows in the 50s to near 60. Monday: Mostly cloudy, cool. Highs in the 50s to around 60. (Published Sunday, Oct. 7, 2018)

Temperatures will continue to warm through the day on Sunday.

Sunshine will be limited to the morning and clouds will increase throughout the afternoon. Showers are possible during the afternoon and we might even hear a rumble of thunder. High temperatures will reach the mid and upper 70s in central and southern New England.

The backdoor cold front will move through northern New England first, so it won’t be as warm up north.

Columbus Day will be a bit gloomy and damp. A widespread, soaking rain isn't expected, but sprinkles or showers are possible. High temperatures will stay in the 50s along the coast with low 60s inland.

A warm front will lift north Monday night.

Tuesday, temperatures will reach the mid and upper 70s. Skies will tend to be mostly cloudy.

Wednesday will be the warmest day of the stretch with a temperatures climbing into the low 80s. Parts of New England will come close to breaking records.

Unsettled, cooler weather will return by the end of the week. We are watching the tropics in the Gulf of Mexico. It’s possible that there could be a tropical depression or storm developing. The remnants of that system may spread heavy rain up the east coast later in the week or by the weekend. Behind that system, it will get a bit cooler – some forecast models are hinting at a little snow in the mountains 10 days out.
