FIRST ALERT: Warm and Windy With Waves Of Rain This Weekend

Street and river flooding is most likely in western and northern New England due to weekend rain

We keep a strong south, southwest wind in the forecast through Saturday. Peak gusts through this evening will push 50 mph, then to 40 mph for Saturday. A wind advisory is up for Boston through this evening.

A few showers move in overnight as temperatures hold in the 60s thanks to the strong southerly wind. More waves of rain will be in the forecast Saturday, with the axis of heaviest rain perhaps just west of Boston early Saturday.

We are right on the edge of heavy rain versus a few showers and breaks in the clouds. Rain will be heaviest and steadiest north and west of Worcester. That's where the risk of street flooding is the highest. Temperatures will be in the low 70s again for Saturday.

More waves of rain push through early Easter Sunday, then will move out from west to east as the day goes by. Breaks of sun can be expected from west to east as temperatures stay in the mid to upper 60s.

When it's all said and done, expect a widespread 1-2 inches of rain this weekend. A First Alert is up for western and northern New England, where street and river flooding is most likely.

Early next week, we will likely still be above average temperature-wise, but we'll hold on to the risk of some spotty rain showers almost daily. Stay tuned to the NBC10 Boston weather team for further updates on the rain and flood threat this weekend.
