Roads Reopened After Water Main Break in Brookline

Roads have reopened and residents will soon have service restored after a water main break in Brookline, Massachusetts on Monday night.

The water main break was reported just before 8 p.m. on Washington Street near River Road. The break was directly in the middle of the outbound side, according to Boston police.

The break caused water to shoot into the air, which then caused ice to quickly form on the roadway due to the frigid temperatures.

At around 10:30 p.m., the water was shut off in the area. Roads remained closed until Tuesday morning while public works crews restored service and cleared the ice that formed.

Residents are expected to get their water service back sometime Tuesday morning.
