Mother's Day Weekend Nor'easter to Be Followed by Weekday Warm Up

It's going to be a wet and windy Mother's Day

We’re expecting a wet and windy 12-18 hours. A May Nor’easter in moving through the region. The heaviest rain will fall between 10 p.m. and 10 a.m. Winds will be gusty – up to 45 mph at the coast. Once the ground become saturated, we may see some isolated power outages. Winds up to 30 mph will be possible inland.

If you live in western New England, don’t write off the day. Skies might brighten for a while. Temperatures could climb as high as 65 degree inland. Showers linger along the coast, but the steady rain should wrap up by the early afternoon. When all is said and done – 1 to 1.5 inches of rain is possible. The highest rainfall totals will across Maine where up to 2 inches is possible. As of this blog post, the chance of any elevation snow is nearly 0.

Once we kick the storm Monday, conditions will quickly improve. There could be a few showers around during the morning on Monday, but skies will clear during the afternoon. Temperatures will reach the lower 60s.

Get ready for a HUGE warm-up Wednesday and Thursday. This will be the warmest air-mass of the season so far! Temperatures may high 90 degrees on Thursday. The wind will be offshore and there won’t be much of a seabreeze, so even the coast will warm up.

Showers and thunderstorms are possible late Thursday afternoon with a cold front. Don’t mind the term cold front, because the air that moves in behind the system is pleasant mild. High temperatures will drop from the 80s, back into the 70s --- however, you’ll need to beware of the seabreeze returning.
