A Massachusetts dog day care has had its business license suspended until further notice after investigators said a dog died in their care late last month.
K-9 Daycare on Washington Street in Weymouth called the death on May 29 "tragic" and they are conducting their own investigation, but they are closed until further notice.
The suspension was prompted by early findings in the death investigation and also multiple violations, including failure to provide water, proper crates and the ability to produce records, according to Weymouth police.
Details of the dog's death have not been released, and the identity of the dog's owner is still unknown.
The facility also boards and grooms dog.
The K-9 Daycare claimed in a statement that the dog, which was being boarded at the time, died in its sleep.
"K-9 Daycare takes the health and safety of the animals in our care very seriously. We have been in business for over seven years and have built this business because of our love for dogs," the statement goes on to say. "We are doing everything possible to ensure the safety of dogs in our care when we reopen."

Police say that the K-9 Daycare will remain closed until the necropsy and the rest of the investigation is finished.
