When Will It End? 2 More Chances for Snow This Weekend

Just when you thought we were done with snow for the season, it looks like there could be two chances for snow this weekend. There's a possibility of snow on both Friday and Saturday, with Saturday more likely to see some real accumulation.

Some of us were woken up by thunderstorms on Wednesday morning. The NBC10 Boston and weather team even received reports of hail in some areas!

After the storms there was a warm up. The warm up didn’t last, but right before the cold front moved through, temperatures soared into the upper 50s and low 60s.

Winds will be the headline overnight. The higher elevations in New England could see 60 mph gusts, with 45 mph gusts common for the remainder of the northeast. Winds diminish during the day on Thursday.

The Boston Red Sox home opener will be chilly, with highs in the low 40s. Winds will be much lighter, but we could still see gusts between 20 and 30 mph. If your seats are in the shade, dress in layers! If your seats are in the sun, it will be a bit more comfortable. Thankfully, the opener will be the sunniest day of the entire week.

Friday will be a very changeable day. Another warm front lifts through. A burst of snow will be possible during the morning. We aren’t expecting a lot, but a coating to an inch is possible on grassy surfaces. Most of it will melt by the afternoon.

On Saturday, the forecast models are hinting at the possibility of more snow. It’s still too early to talk details, but snow is looking likely.

At this point, the highest probabilities for accumulating snow would be south of the Massachusetts Turnpike. Even if it is a significant amount of snow, it’s April and it will melt quickly.

Stay tuned!
