Newton Mayor Setti Warren has hired longtime Democratic Party leader John Walsh as an advisor

Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker hasn’t officially announced a run for re-election, but potential challengers might be gearing up to face him in 2018.

Newton Mayor Setti Warren has hired longtime Democratic Party leader John Walsh as an advisor, according to Politico Massachusetts.

Warren has not yet made an official announcement on a potential run for the Democratic nomination.

Politico said that other potential challengers include Dan Wolf, Somerville Mayor Joe Curtatone, Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll, U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III, U.S. Rep. Seth Moulton, and U.S. Rep. Katherine Clark.

The Boston Globe reports that there is a movement to convince John. F. Kerry to make a run for the seat.

Meanwhile, Democratic activist Darlene Bryskiewicz has created a Twitter handle, @KerryforGov, to convince the secretary of state to run once he leaves his position in January.
