South Windsor police arrested a Hartford man after a wild chase on Tuesday night that ended with the suspect’s unsuccessful attempt to get away on a CT Transit bus, according to police.
When a police officer tried to stop a car on Buckland Road near Evergreen Walk around 5 p.m. for some kind of violation, the driver fled and kept changing lanes to try and get away from the officer.
Police pursued the suspect, identified as Luciano Ormsby, 26, of Hartford, into Manchester, where Ormsby tried to drive between lanes and damaged cars in the process, police said.
South Windsor police ended their pursuit and a Manchester Police officer found a car abandoned near Interstate 84.
Officers then discovered Ormsby on a CT Transit bus.
At first, he lied to officers about his name, but officers soon discovered who he really is and found two re-arrest warrants pending for him, police said.
Ormsby was charged with two counts of failure to appear in the first degree, reckless driving, failure to obey an officer’s signal, interfering with an officer, forgery in the second degree, operating an unregistered motor vehicle, misuse of plates, operating under suspension, no insurance and possession of less than half an ounce of marijuana.

While Ormsby was detained in a cell at police headquarters, he scratched his name and other words into the paint in a jail cell, police said, so was also charged with criminal mischief in the third degree.
Police held Ormsby on a $250,000 surety bond and was due to appear in Manchester Superior Court on Wednesday morning.
