Cooler and drier weather will continue to move in across the region Friday as renewed strong winds threaten additional downed trees and power outages.

We're expecting an overall pleasant fall day for the first day of November, with high temperatures about 10 degrees cooler than Thursday, in the low 60s south and mid 50s north.

Overnight, an area of high pressure will build overhead, resulting in clear skies, subsiding winds and cool temperatures in the mid 30s at the coast, the freezing mark inland and upper 20s across the North Country.

Mostly clear skies and light winds prevail on Saturday, where an onshore flow will keep high temperatures in the upper 40s to low 50s. An area of clouds and showers is expected to sneak in over eastern locales Saturday night.

By Sunday, sunny skies and dry conditions return. High temperatures will only rise into the upper 40s to low 50s. High pressure settles overhead for the start of the work week with renewed sunny skies and cool temperatures in the low 50s.

Clouds will move back in Tuesday as showers develop across New England. Unsettled weather continues into the middle of the week with temperatures moderating a bit and highs rising into the upper 50s to near 60 degrees.

A strong area of high pressure from the Canadian Rockies spills much cooler temperatures into the Midwest later in the week. These below-normal temperatures will reach New England by Thursday and Friday on the First Alert 10-Day Forecast on NBC10 Boston and necn.
