Winter Classic More Than a Game for Fans

The Boston Bruins played in its second Winter Classic, this year against the Montreal Canadiens. Gillette Stadium was packed, but the enthusiastic fans weren't enough to propel the Bruins to victory.

Aside from some breathtaking pre-game festivities, the game itself was not one to remember. Still, fans say the Winter Classic is more than just a game.

"We've been preparing for this for a year," said Joe Fornaro of Walpole, Massachusetts.

From the last days of 2015 to the start of 2016, Gillette has been home to the most coveted event for Bruins fans.

"It's hard to get to the Winter Classic because it costs a lot of money," said Fornaro.

About 70,000 people from all over the world shelled out hundreds, even thousands of dollars to get to the game.

"I've been looking forward to this game all year long as soon as I learned there was even a potential, I knew that I was coming, I said that I would pay $500 on a ticket if I have to," said Jay Scott of Pawtucket, Rhode Island.
