A woman has been charged in an incident this month where a car plowed into a group of children in Stoneham, Massachusetts, and fled the scene, prosecutors announced Monday.
The Oct. 13 hit-and-run crash sent two of the four children, all 12 or 13 years old, who'd been standing in a driveway to the hospital when a car sped into them, though police said none of the kids received major injuries.
Stephanie DeTomasi, a 30-year-old from Burlington, was charged with leaving the scene of personal injury, leaving the scene of property damage, destroying evidence, negligent operation of a vehicle and speeding, the Middlesex District Attorney's Office said in a statement Monday.
DeTomasi is due in Woburn District Court Tuesday.
Stoneham police had identified the owner of the car, a woman who lived in Burlington, two weeks ago, the department said at the time, but she declined to speak with officers.
Surveillance footage showed the group of young children standing in a driveway when a car suddenly speeds toward them, striking the group and knocking them to the ground. In the last split seconds when the car aims at the children, some appear to brace for the impact and try to flee, but it was too late.

"All we heard was the screech of the tires and they just turned toward us," one of the victims said. "We ended up scattered everywhere, we just go flying."
