A woman was arrested for drunk driving with her two children in the car early Sunday morning, Rhode Island State Police said.

Around 3:20 a.m., the Seekonk, Massachusetts, police department notified surrounding departments of a possibly intoxicated motorist entering Rhode Island on Route 195 West. An officer pulled over the vehicle for failure to stay in marked lanes and noticed Carol Salgado, 29, of Providence, was showing signs of intoxication.

Salgado's three-year-old and five-year-old children were in the car and improperly restrained at the time of her arrest. The children were released to a family member and the Rhode Island Department of Children, Youth, and Families has been notified.

She was charged with driving under the influence of intoxicating liquor or drugs, refusal to submit a chemical test, and operator and child passenger restraint required. Salgado is scheduled to appear in court on April 10.
