Woman Charged in Massive Fire That Damaged 7 Buildings

The fire damaged 7 buildings, injured 3 firefighters and displaced 52 residents

A woman is facing charges in connection with a massive fire that damaged seven buildings in a Massachusetts city over the summer.

Lawrence police say 41-year-old Grace Ordonez was arrested Tuesday for setting a fire on Summer Street in August that damaged seven buildings, injured three firefighters and left 52 without homes.

Ordonez was allegedly squatting at 29 Summer St., which had been damaged in a previous fire, when the Aug. 25 fire started.

She's been charged with five counts of burning a dwelling and is due in Lawrence District Court.

It's unclear if she has an attorney.

Damages for the Summer Street fire were estimated at more than $1 million.
