A New Hampshire woman is dead after she was hit by a car that was backing out of a driveway.
Doreen Kukene of Shelburne was struck by the vehicle on North Rd. on Saturday afternoon. She was taken to Androscoggin Valley Hospital in Berlin, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
A preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Chevrolet Impala, being operated by Ann St. Onge, 36, of Shelburne was backing out of the driveway when Kukene, 65, was walking along the roadway.
Police say drugs and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.
The investigation is ongoing.
