Fire officials say a woman was hospitalized after her vehicle skidded off the road and overturned in about two feet of water in northwestern Vermont.
The Burlington Free Press reports the crash happened Sunday around 3:30 p.m. in Williston, when the unidentified woman's vehicle left the roadway and landed in a tributary of Lake Iroquois on its passenger side.
Senior Firefighter Prescott Nadeau says the woman and her dog were trapped in the car and needed to be freed.
The woman was treated for injuries at the University of Vermont Medical Center. She is expected to live. Her pet was uninjured in the accident.
Fire crews from Hinesburg assisted in the rescue.
