Murder Suspect Arrested at Airport After Woman Fatally Shot

Police say Roberto Santiago, 19, of West Springfield was arrested at Bradley International Airport

A man accused of fatally shooting a woman inside a Massachusetts apartment was caught trying to board a flight to Puerto Rico in Connecticut, according to state and local authorities.

Nineteen-year-old Roberto Santiago was arrested at Bradley International Airport by West Springfield and Connecticut state police in connection to the death of Delilah Santiago, 18, of Holyoke.

West Springfield police say Delilah Santiago's body was found around 1 p.m. Monday in an apartment at the Hillcrest Arms Apartment Complex.

Police say Roberto Santiago was arrested after investigators learned about his whereabouts at Bradley International Airport and confirmed he bought a ticket to San Juan.

Roberto Santiago will be arraigned in Springfield District Court. It's unclear if he has an attorney.

The death was the city's first homicide of the year.
