Woman Found Dead in Quinnipiac River Identified

The female body discovered in the Quinnipiac River in New Haven on Sunday has been identified, police said. 

Police were called to the south end of the river near the Grand Ave. Bridge and Front St. just after 11 a.m.

The body of 19-year-old Adaijah Walker was discovered in shallow water.

Earlier on Sunday morning, Walker was reported missing after she was last seen around 7 p.m. on Saturday by her family in New Haven.

Family reported that she was despondent.

Detectives suspect that the death was caused by suicide or an accidental drowning but a investigators from the Medical Examiner's office did not release information.

An autopsy is currently underway. 

Earlier this month, the body of a missing Middletown teen was found in the Connecticut River.
