Woman Found Murdered in Car in New Haven

A 28-year-old woman was shot and killed in front of her children in a car in New Haven Thursday night, and US Marshals are offering a cash reward for information on a man wanted for questioning in connection with the case.

Police said this case might be connected to the shooting of another woman on May 7.

Officers responded to Wilmot Road, near Wintergreen Avenue, at 10:16 p.m. to investigate a shooting and found the woman dead. Police said she was in her car with her 6-year-old child and her 11-year-old child at the intersection when she was shot and investigators believe she was targeted.

Police have not identified who she is to protect her children. The shooter is at large.

Investigators said 41-year-old Tramaine Marquese Poole, of New Haven, is wanted for questioning. US Marshals are assisting New Haven police with the case and offering a $5,000 reward for information that leads to Poole's arrest.

Police said the murder might be connected to a shooting Monday on Henry Street. The victim, a 36-year-old New Haven woman, called police and said her husband, identified as Poole, shot her.

Detectives from the New Haven Police Department’s Major Crimes Division and Bureau of Identification are investigating.

Witnesses are asked to call police at 203-946-6316 or Text-A-Tip by texting “NHPD” plus your message to 274637.
