Woman Hits Man While Attempting Car Robbery in Nahant

A Massachusetts man was injured Saturday when he was struck by his own vehicle while trying to prevent it from being stolen in Nahant.

Local resident Richie Comito saw the whole thing play out while he was drinking coffee with his stepmother at the Dunkin’ Donuts on Wilson Road. The suspect first caught his eye because of her strange choice in clothes.

“She didn’t look familiar and you don’t walk around Nahant, Saturday morning, 9 o’clock when it’s 30 degrees out in just a T-shirt,” Comito said.

He says he then saw her attempt to steal a Honda Accord that was parked.

“An older gentleman came out, and apparently his car was important to him, and he grabbed it and she just ran him over,” said Comito.

Police confirmed the owner of the vehicle was injured while trying to prevent the theft.

“When she tried to leave the area, he ended up basically rolling over the hood while he was trying to stop her,” said Nahant police Sgt. Stephen Shultz.

The suspect allegedly drove into the Dunkin‘ Donuts and a fire hydrant. According to police, the chief arrested the woman after she ditched the vehicle.

With one way in, and one way out of this small town, Richie Comito has some advice for people thinking about causing trouble her: “Don’t do crime in Nahant. There’s no future in it. They’ll get you."

The victim suffered a back injury. The suspect is in custody awaiting her arraignment. No names have been released.
