Woman Identified in Fatal Shooting at Newport, NH Home

The attorney general's office said 75-year-old Margaret "Peggy" Clarke's death has been ruled a homicide

New Hampshire authorities have identified the victim in a fatal shooting Tuesday afternoon at a home in Newport, according to the attorney general's office.

Police responded to a 911 call for a report of a woman who had been shot at 553 Maple St.

When police arrived, 75-year-old Margaret "Peggy" Clarke was found dead inside.

An autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner determined Clarke's death was a gunshot wound to the chest. Her death has been ruled a homicide.

Authorities said they have "identified all the parties involved in the incident" but have not provided any other details.
