Cause of Fatal Cape Cod Fire Released; Victim Identified

Officials have identified the victim killed in a fire that broke out Friday afternoon in Bourne, Massachusetts.

Fire crews responded to a home on Alona Avenue in the Monument Beach neighborhood around 3:45 p.m. When they arrived, the home was fully engulfed.

According to the state Department of Fire Services, 65-year-old Maureen Marzelli-White, was found dead inside the home.

She lived alone in the home with her pets. Her dog also died in the fire, but her cat survived.

Officials say there was extensive evidence of smoking around the couch.
