A woman was killed after a fire broke out Monday morning at her home in Fitchburg, Massachusetts.
The Worcester County District Attorney's Office confirms the victim, 53-year-old Cheryl Cutting, was pulled from her Cottage Street home when firefighters responded.
Cutting was taken to Leominster Hospital, where she was pronounced dead just after 8:30 a.m.
Investigators say pellets for a pellet stove were stored next to her water heater. Her home is not believed to have had working smoke alarms.
Only Cutting lived in the single-family home.
The fire remains under investigation.
