A Farmington, Maine, woman who worked at a doctor's office has pleaded guilty to making out dozens of prescriptions for controlled painkillers using fake names and picking up the prescriptions herself.
The Sun Journal reports that Rhonda Lynn Drake received a two-year suspended sentence and two years of probation this week after pleading guilty to in Franklin County Superior Court to charges of acquiring drugs by deception and forgery.
Prosecutors say from August 2013 until March the 43-year-old Drake used the doctor's stamp to validate the prescriptions.
She was seen picking up prescriptions in several store surveillance videos. The 43 fake prescriptions were for 4,000 pills valued at about $2,400.
Drake's lawyer says his client was addicted to the painkillers but is now receiving treatment and feels great shame.
