A woman who was pulled from the water at Nantasket Beach in Hull on Sunday had drowned, Massachusetts authorities said Monday.

Hull resident Amy White, 69 years old, was pulled from the water in the area of 123 Beach Ave. just before 2 p.m., the Plymouth District Attorney Timothy J. Cruz's office said in a statement.

Police and firefighters had responded to a 911 call for an unresponsive woman, according to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office. Bystanders were attempting to perform lifesaving efforts on White when crews arrived.

Emergency crews tended to the woman, then took her to South Shore Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Witnesses told police that a group of people had noticed White floating on her back for several minutes and found her unresponsive when they went to check on her.

Authorities do not believe foul play is suspected in White's death and think she may have suffered a medical incident. An autopsy will determine her exact cause and manner of death.

State police detectives assigned to the Plymouth County District Attorney's office are investigating.
