    Woman Seriously Injured When Car Hits Utility Pole

    A woman was seriously injured when a car struck a utility pole in Massachusetts.

    Springfield fire says they responded to 840 Page Boulevard just before 12 p.m. on Sunday to find a Hundie Kona had struck and knocked down a utility pole. The wires in the pole were live and sparked a grass fire on the lawn of Mary the Mother of Hope Church.

    Firefighters extricated the female passenger and she was transported to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.

    The driver was also transported to the hospital, officials said. It is not clear what his condition is at this time.
