Woman's Murder Has Small Town of Princeton, Massachusetts, on Edge

Princeton, Massachusetts, is a close-knit community. But many are now on edge after learning 27-year-old Vanessa Marcotte was found killed in a wooded area.

"It's a quiet town. Very sweet. People are very nice," explained resident Mary Haggar. "It's a nice community."

Some people are questioning whether the town is really safe.

"My sister, who lives in the next town, called me and wanted to know if I wanted to stay at her house tonight," said Haggar. "Things like this happen. but now we know it could happen anywhere."

A number of people are taking extra precautions.

"We keep our doors locked now and we don't always have to do that here," said resident Dana Norway. "But now I think we will, until we know more."

Tess Bois says it has changed her family's daily routine.

"The kids usually play basketball down the street, but today, they are not going to play basketball," she said.

In the center of town, it's business as usual. But Haggar says she won't be putting her guard down anytime soon.

"I did bring my pepper spray with me," she said. "This is scary."
