Man Charged With Murder in Grisly Burned Body Case

A Massachusetts man faced a judge Thursday on a murder charge in connection with the death of a woman whose body was found burnt in the trunk of a car in a Worcester cemetery last December.

Fifty-seven-year-old Steven Foley of Northborough was ordered to be held without bail during his arraignment at Worcester Central District Court Thursday morning. He was previously charged with burning a motor vehicle.

The victim, whose body was discovered in the trunk of a burning Buick LeSabre in Hope Cemetery on the morning of Dec. 12, was identified as 59-year-old Sterling resident Cynthia Webb. A medical examiner ruled her death as a homicide by assault.

Foley met up with Webb at the Webster strip club where she was employed the night before she died, according to a criminal complaint.

After he was arrested on the motor vehicle burning charge, investigators found physical evidence that placed Webb at Foley's Northborough home the night before her body was found inside the Buick, which belonged to the victim, the criminal complaint said.

It's unclear if Foley has an attorney. His next court date is Oct. 17.
