Worcester officials are searching for a new site for a city skate park that was demolished.
The Telegram & Gazette reports city officials and organizers from Worcide DIY skate park are collaborating on a list of potential sites for the proposed park.
The Worcide DIY park was demolished by the city last month because of safety hazards. Worcester Deputy Fire Chief Martin Dyer says there was "an enormous amount of combustible material" around the skate park.
Worcide organizers like Meghan Dube were upset by the demolition. Dube says organizers spent over $20,000 and volunteered "countless hours" to build up the park. She hopes the new park can be constructed through a public-private partnership.
City Manager Edward Augustus Jr. says Worcester officials are committed to finding a new location.
