Man Arrested in Connection with Family Member Death in Worcester Home

Authorities are investigating what is considered to be a suspicious death of a woman inside a Worcester, Massachusetts home.

Police responded to a home on Bailey Street around 11:30p.m. on Saturday after recieving a call that the woman living in the home may have been harmed.

Police found the 56-year-old woman dead inside the home.

"It appeared to the officers that death was caused by direct trauma," according to an official statement by Worcester Police.

Police found the family member, a 26-year-old man, at the Dunkin Donuts on Chandler Street. He was taken to the police station for questioning and was then arrested. He is facing charges of aggravated assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and domestic assault and battery.

Authorities have not identified the name of the woman or the suspect, citing current domestic laws. However, neighbors say that they never heard any kind of commotion at the house.

"We knew them. She was a nice lady. She loved her children. Her children were the world to her," said one neighbor.

The cause of death has also not been released, though police say it looks like it could be direct trauma.

The suspect is expected to be arraigned Tuesday at the Worcester County District Courthouse.
