1 Teen Killed, 1 Injured in Worcester Shootings

The two shootings happened within a half hour of each other on Tuesday night

An 18-year-old male has died after being injured in a shooting in Worcester on Tuesday night.

The teen was rushed to a local hospital after a 10:25 p.m shooting in a residential neighborhood on Gage Street, according to police.

Witnesses reported hearing several gunshots as people were leaving a Fourth of July celebration at a nearby park, according to The Telegram and Gazette. The victim was found lying on the ground, and a large crowd had formed around him by the time police arrived.

About a half hour later, a second shooting was reported in the area of Shrewsbury and Lyon streets.

Police said a 19-year-old male was shot after a dispute with another male on Shrewsbury Street. He was taken to an area hospital and his wounds are not believed to be life-threatening.

Authorities did not say if the incidents were connected.

No arrests have been made at this time. The investigation into both shootings is ongoing.
