Bar Robbed at Gunpoint; Shot Fired into Ceiling

Masked men burst into McGuire's Lounge through a side door

Worcester, Massachusetts police are investigating an armed holdup at a city bar at which a shot was fired.

Nobody was hurt when two armed and masked men burst into McGuire's Lounge through a side door at about 1:15 a.m. Sunday. An employee says about 10 patrons were inside.

Police say while one man stood by the door, the other went behind the bar and ordered the bartender to open the register. The man by the door fired a single shot into the ceiling before both fled.

The suspects were both about 5-feet, 6-inches to 5-feet, 8-inches tall, in their late 20s, with thin builds.

McGuire's owner John Tarashuck Jr. tells The Telegram & Gazette the bar's surveillance cameras were not working when the robbery occurred. He says the robbers took about $175.
