Man Arrested in Ga. in Mass. Homicide Case

NEW BEDFORD, Mass. (AP) - A Providence, Rhode Island, man has been arrested in Georgia on an accessory charge in the death of a man in New Bedford last week.

The Bristol County district attorney's office said Thursday that 36-year-old Sayyid Coggins was arrested in Stone Mountain, Georgia, in the overnight hours Tuesday into Wednesday. At a court hearing Thursday, he agreed to return to Massachusetts.

Coggins is charged with being an accessory to murder after the fact in the April 15 death of 29-year-old Justin Downey. Downey's body was found after a fire at the house where he lived in New Bedford. Prosecutors said the fire is suspicious.

The district attorney's office said it's not clear when Coggins will be returned to Massachusetts.
