Patrice Bergeron Is ‘pound for Pound Best Player in the NHL'

(NECN/CSNNE) – The Bruins are back to being winners and we have Kevin Walsh from Comcast SportsNet here to pick an MVP from Thursday night’s 4-2 win over the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Many are thinking Tyler Seguin from Thursday night’s game. Seguin is the obvious choice because he had two goals, but Walsh says the real MVP is Patrice Bergeron.

“It’s Patrice Bergeron. Pound for pound, he is the best player in the NHL. It’s not always sexy hockey with him but it’s always effective hockey. He won 60-percent of his faceoffs…he’s so good. He had a goal and two assists. That second line has accounted for 15 points in the last three games, really just taking care of business. The two-game losing streak they were on now looks to be at thing of the past,” Walsh says. “It doesn’t get any easier because they have a game against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday. They’re playing three games in four days and six in nine days, and this is where the schedule, and we knew it was compressed from the beginning, is going to be really tough.”

What about the chance that Boston Red Sox DH David Ortiz might not be ready for opening day?
