Police Stop Car for Speeding, Find 376 Bags of Heroin

Vermont State Police seized 376 bags of heroin and arrested three people during a traffic routine stop on Monday afternoon.

Around 2:44 p.m. Monday, state police stopped a 2014 Hyundai Sonata for speeding on Interstate 89 north in Randolph. During the stop, state police determined that there was a small amount of marijuana in the vehicle. During a search of the occupants and the vehicle, 376 bags of heroin were located on one of the occupants. The heroin was reportedly headed for Burlington, Vermont when it was intercepted by state police.

Alva Lynch, 21, Alfonzo Dixon, 26, and John Newson, 25, all of Hartford, Conn. were each charged with heroin trafficking/conspiracy to deliver drugs. Lynch was held on $25,000 bail, and Dixon and Newson on $10,000 bail. All three are scheduled to be arraigned in Orange Superior Court on Tuesday.
