(NECN) – Republican Chris Christie is now revealing that he underwent surgery in February to help him lose weight, opting for the lap-band procedure instead of a gastric bypass.
Dr. Adam Glasgow, director of the Steward-Norwood Hospital Weight Loss Center joins NECN to talk about weight-loss surgery.
The difference between the two is that the band is the safer one of the two. The band makes a person feel full faster, stopping them from eating too much.
The lap-band has less complications and doesn’t involve cutting or stapling.
Glasgow says that the band requires more work at first, but is less dangerous.
