(NECN) - There will be no controversy this year over a tree-lighting ceremony at the Rhode Island statehouse.
That's because Governor Lincoln Chafee has decided not to host a ceremony.
Last year, protesters attended the tree-lighting because Chafee referred to the tree as a "holiday tree."
Student choruses will perform at the statehouse instead.
A spokeswoman says Chafee is focused on more important matters now.
