The general election in Massachusetts’ governor race is set. Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Charlie Baker beat out their opponents in Tuesday’s primaries.
Baker was outside of South Station in Boston Wednesday morning thanking supporters and voters. He commented on Coakley’s challenge to sign a “People’s Pledge.”
“I find it hilarious that the attorney general is calling on me to sign a People’s Pledge, when the first negative ad that was run in this race several weeks ago, was written by a Super-PAC that was affiliated with her campaign and had written thousands of dollars in donations to her campaign.”
He added, “And when I turned on the TV this morning the first thing I saw was a negative ad run by the same organization on her behalf.”
In Coakley’s victory speech, she said, “From our economic well-being, to defending our personal rights, we know Republican Charlie Baker is the wrong choice for Massachusetts.”
Coakley will be at the Democrats’ Unity Rally in Boston Wednesday morning.
