The Clinton campaign has pulled out all of the stops, bringing former President Bill Clinton back to Connecticut to campaign for Hillary Clinton on Monday.
The former president made stops in East Hartford, Hartford and New Haven, just one day before the state's primary. He was joined by former Congresswoman Gabby Giffords and her husband, Capt. Mark Kelly.
Clinton said this race isn't nearly as close as his wife's first run for president, despite the claims of Sen. Bernie Sanders' campaign.
“It was much closer in 2008. She was closer in the delegate count and she was ahead in the popular vote, so this election is not as close as 2008,” he said.
Bill Clinton walked through Augie and Ray's in East Hartford, a popular restaurant in the area frequented by Congressman John Larson, who joined the former president for the visit.
Clinton said he understands the frustration among the electorate when it comes to jobs and people's personal finances.
“The country is doing better than everybody else in the world, but 80-percent of the country has not had a pay raise since the crash." he said. "Therefore there is great fear that we cannot return to broad based prosperity and that has lit a lot of the fires that has helped Mr. Trump on the right and Mr. Sanders on the left.”

With just a day to go until the primary, President Clinton's main purpose Monday was to rally votes for his wife.
“I’m really proud of her. She’s doing great and she’s further ahead now than she was ever behind in 2008 in popular votes and delegate votes and I’m grateful for all the support she’s received.”
