Hillary Clinton Campaigns for Michaud

Hours after stumping for Democratic Massachusetts gubernatorial candidate Martha Coakley, the former first lady traveled to Maine to support Mike Michaud's bid to defeat incumbent Republican Gov. Paul LePage.

Hillary Rodham Clinton says Democratic gubernatorial nominee Rep. Mike Michaud is the best candidate to spur economic change in Maine.

Clinton spoke Friday at a rally at Scarborough High School that attracted about 1,000 people. The former secretary of state and first lady of the United States says Michaud's background as a mill worker underscores his understanding of the need for middle-class jobs.

Michaud is running against Republican Gov. Paul LePage and independent Eliot Cutler. Polls show LePage and Michaud in a tight race and Cutler trailing.

Michaud also spoke at the event and highlighted job growth, access to health care and equal pay for equal work. He says Maine is "at a crossroads" and defeating LePage would be a good start toward improving the state's economy.
