‘Praying for NYC': New England Politicians Respond to Truck Attack

New England politicians on both sides of the aisle condemned Tuesday's truck attack that killed eight and injured 11 others in New York City, while offering praise to the first responders who came to the aid of the wounded.

"My thoughts are with New York City tonight," Massachusetts Congressman Seth Moulton tweeted. "New Yorkers have suffered this cowardly hatred before - and they've risen again before, too."

"Devastated for the victims of today's attack in Manhattan," added U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III of Massachusetts. "Violence in our communities must end."

"Boston's thoughts, prayers & condolences to all those in New York who are suffering due to this senseless act of violence," Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said.

"I am horrified to learn of today’s deadly attack in New York City that has claimed innocent lives and my heart goes out to the families and loved ones impacted by this senseless act of terrorism," Massachusetts Gov. Charlie Baker said. "My thoughts and prayers remain with New York and I commend the first responders who acted quickly to help the victims."

"Keeping the victims, first responders, & people of NY in our thoughts tonight," Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren said. "We will not let terrorism or fear divide us. #NYCStrong"

"Heartbreaking news this evening," said U.S. Rep. Bruce Poliquin of Maine. "I ask all Americans & friends around the world to keep these victims & all those affected in your hearts."

"Praying for victims, families, and all impacted by despicable #NewYork attack," U.S. Rep. Carol Shea-Porter of New Hampshire said on Twitter. "Thankful for brave first responders."

"Deeply saddened by news of terror attack in #NewYorkCity," added Rhode Island Sen. Jack Reed. "Grateful to first responders for helping those in need."

"My thoughts are with victims, families and all impacted by violence in NYC," U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire said. "NH stands w/NY against terror."

"My thoughts are with all those impacted by the terrible violence in New York City," U.S. Rep. Ann McLane Kuster of New Hampshire said. "Thank you to the first responders and law enforcement."

"Devastated by the horrific attack in Manhattan," Connecticut Congressman John Larson said. "My thoughts & prayers are w/the families & friends of those killed and the injured."

"Horrified to hear of tonight’s terror attack in New York City," Rhode Island Gov. Gina Raimondo said. "Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. RI stands with #NYC."

"My heart goes out to all those affected by today's events in NYC," New Hampshire Congresswoman Maggie Hassan said. "Thankful for the work of law enforcement & first responders on the scene."
