Vt. Elections Recount Deadlines, Results Pushed Back

Two important events related to this year's Vermont elections have been pushed back a day due to the Veterans Day holiday.

Normally, the statewide canvassing committee that certifies official results in an election meets on the Tuesday after election day. But with state offices closed for the holiday, that will happen on Wednesday this year.

At the same time, the deadline for asking for a recount also is being pushed back to Wednesday.

That means Republican Scott Milne has an extra day to decide whether he wants a recount in his apparent narrow loss to incumbent Democratic Gov. Peter Shumlin.
