Broadside: Gomez Endorses Baker in 2014 Mass. Governor's Race

(NECN) - A week after announcing he'll bow out of Massachusetts politics in 2014 in favor of the private sector, former Republican candidate for U.S. Senate Gabriel Gomez endorsed Charlie Baker in the governor's race.

This endorsement comes after donating $500 to independent candidate Jeff McCormack, whom Gomez says he's known for years.

"In the end, I'm going to support Charlie Baker, I think that he is the right person," he said, adding, "Either one of these two would be much better than the two candidates right now that are front leaders for the Democratic party, Coakley and Grossman, but in the end, I think that Charlie Baker is experienced in both the public sector as well as in the private sector and about creating jobs and making Massachusetts better."

Gomez also says while he's focused on his new business venture, he's also open to making a return to politics in the future.
