Obama to Visit Conn. for Push to Min. Wage Increase

HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - President Barack Obama is expected to visit Connecticut next week to push for an increase in the minimum wage.

A post on Gov. Dannel P. Malloy's Twitter account says Obama will be in Connecticut next Wednesday for a "Raise the Wage" event.

Few details on the presidential visit have been released. White House officials said Obama will attend an event in the Hartford area.

Obama and fellow Democrats, including Malloy, are seeking an increase in the minimum wage from the current $7.25 an hour to $10.10 an hour.

Malloy and other governors met with Obama at the White House on Monday to discuss the president's economic policies. After that visit, Malloy and Louisiana Republican Gov. Bobby Jindal got involved in an on-camera partisan argument in front of the West Wing.
