Disgraced former House Speaker Gordon Fox has lost his law license.
The state Supreme Court on Thursday issued an order disbarring Fox. The order says Fox voluntarily consents, and is fully aware of the implications.
Fox pleaded guilty March 3 to charges of bribery, wire fraud and filing a false tax return, following an investigation that included a dramatic federal raid on his Statehouse office.
Sentencing is scheduled for June 11.
Fox, once considered among the most powerful politicians in the state, acknowledges receiving $52,500 in 2008 to help grant a liquor license to a Providence bar when he served on the city's board of licenses.
He also acknowledges taking $108,000 from his campaign account and using it for personal expenses.
