Ready for Round 3? Guinta to Face Shea-Porter Again

He will now face off against incumbent Democrat Carol Shea-Porter in the November election

Frank Guinta has won the Republican nomination in New Hampshire's 1st Congressional District and will face Democrat Carol Shea-Porter for a third time in November.

In unofficial results, Guinta defeated Portsmouth businessman Dan Innis and two lesser-known candidates Tuesday, while Shea-Porter was unopposed in her primary. She was first elected in 2006, lost to Guinta in 2010 and then defeated him in 2012 to regain the seat.

Innis, a Portsmouth hotel owner and a former University of New Hampshire administrator, was making his first run for elected office. He criticized Guinta as a career politician, saying sending the same people to Washington repeatedly and expecting better results isn't working. But Guinta, a former state lawmaker, alderman and mayor, said he was proud of his long history of public service.
