Marilinda Garcia Wins GOP District 2 Congressional Primary in NH

She'll face off against Democrat Annie Kuster in the general election

State Rep. Marilinda Garcia has won the Republican nomination in New Hampshire's 2nd Congressional District and will take on Democratic incumbent Annie Kuster in November.

Garcia, a music professor in her fourth term representing Salem, defeated former state Sen. Gary Lambert, former state Rep. Jim Lawrence and Mike Little of Concord on Tuesday. Kuster, seeking re-election to a second term, was unopposed in her primary.

Though they largely agreed on the issues, the campaign took on a negative tone after Lambert ran several ads attacking Garcia on immigration and health care. He also criticized Garcia for missing votes at the Statehouse, but she responded that missing votes was better than voting the wrong way as she said Lambert did on numerous issues.
